THE DEBBY DILLEHAY DANCE TROUPE
A Professional Performing Company

As a professional performing company, our dance troupe performs benefit and professional shows throughout Southern Louisiana. It is a great opportunity for the serious dancer to get more stage experience than a yearly dance recital, and gives older dancers the opportunity to use their talent. Annually we perform for Celebration in the Oaks, Kenner Christmas Village, Destrehan Plantation, various retirement homes and festivals just to name a few. Dancers are selected by invitation or audition. Anyone auditioning will be judged on appearance, learning speed, style, stage presentation and performance. We must stress the fact that this is a performing company, not a marching group. Members must be serious about dance and their commitment to the troupe as they must be willing to put a lot of time and energy into each project. Members have received numerous honors in dance competition as well as receiving invitations to perform in the Soviet Union, Poland, China, Australia, Spain, Disneyworld, Cruise shows and the Caribbean Festival of the Arts in San Juan.

PROFESSIONAL DIVISION: Each member must take at least two dance classes per week in various subjects including Jazz and Ballet, with at least 1 Jazz class at our studio. This division is given the opportunity to perform in all shows and competitions and may be eligible for participation in solo, duo, or trio routines.

AMATEUR DIVISION: Each member must take at least 1 dance class per week at our studio. Members in this division would only be used in group routines and may not be included in all shows.
AGE DIVISIONS: Senior, Junior and Petite Company ages 7 and up.

BASIC RULES:

Some of the performances included: Destrehan Plantation Festival, Celebration in the Oaks, Chateau Living Center, Summerville Retirement Community, Kenner Christmas Village, St. Elizabeth Seton Fair and De La Salle’s Fais Do Do. Dances for adults are mostly classical jazz, Broadway jazz and tap.
